Peachy Day

Before I get to today’s card, I want to remind you about Stampin’ Up!’s FREE SHIPPING that is for Tomorrow Only.  Any order totally $50.00 in product earns Free Shipping!  Woohoo!!!

For today’s card I have used the Sweet As A Peach Bundle.  This is such an adorable stamp set.  And the Designer Series Paper is beautiful, as always.  Living in Georgia, this stamp set is a must!!

Colors

I love everything about this card, even if I did design it. LOL!!!  More specifically, I love the colors.  The You’re A Peach Designer Series Paper has awesome shading of Pale Papaya and Calypso Coral for the peaches and flowers.  To me the paper is definitely the star of the show.

I chose the Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzaz cardstock colors from the DSP.  The stamping is also done using those colors in the flowers and the branch.  For the peach, I stamped it using Pale Papaya Ink and then sponged some Calypso Coral around the edge and top for the same look as the paper.

I die cut the flowers using the matching Peach Dies from the Bundle.  The flowers stamp and cut three at a time.  I stamped and cut twice for extra flowers.

Layout and Finishing Touches

Because the DSP is so pretty, I pushed the focal layer over to the right a bit.  I wanted to focus on it as well as show off the two peaches that are on the left side of the DSP.  After doing that placement, I was happy for the extra flowers.  One of the extra ones is placed on the bottom right of the focal layer.  The second one is hanging off the edge on the upper left.  I like to have a little piece coming over the edge for added dimensions.

The finishing touch is to add the center to the flowers. Even though I did not add a dot to each flower, I think the three I used were a good touch.  These black dots are the Matte Black Dots.  They are a bit bolder than the black centers in the DSP flowers, but I love the look.

Measurements

  • Base card of Calypso Coral is cut 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • Pear Pizzazz layer is cut to 5 1/4 X 4
  • DSP layer is cut to 5 1/8 X 3 7/8
  • Small Calypso Coral layer is cut to 3 X 3 1/2
  • Focal layer of White is cut to 2 7/8 X 3 1/8

Create Your Own With Color

I have two cards to share with you today.  It is from my Stamp Club that met on Sunday.  For something different, we decided that I would give them “Pieces” and let them create their own layout.  All of the cards were different and great.  I think they surprised themselves after the initial thought of “what do I do?”.  I also made two versions that are very similar.

This is my first card.  The supplies were a base card of Thick White cardstock.  The layer is Mango Melody and then a layer of White cardstock.  The DSP is actually two pieces of 1″ X 3″ Brights DSP in Mango Melody.  The flower is from the Color & Contour Bundle.  I die cut three flowers for each person and gave them the Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend.

I layered the two DSP pieces together to make the strip on this first card.  And I only colored the center of each flower.  The sentiment is from the stamp set.  I kept this one very simple.  Next is my second version.

This card is very much the same.  I used the two pieces of DSP separately but kept the flowers the same and in a line.  I had taken the stamp set and the matching Dies to Club.  A few of the ladies used some of the layering dies for their cards.  I felt bad after leaving and thinking of doing a post on these that I failed to take any photos.  My apologies to the group because the cards were all wonderul.

The Older You Get

Today’s card is a humorous birthday card.  As soon as I saw the Bunches of Fun stamp set in the annual catalog, I knew it had to come to my house.  I have a sarcastic sense of humor, and this fit perfectly!

Stamp Set

The Bunches of Fun stamp set has the cutest images.  I think the Stampin’ Up! artists are the best.  These images especially spoke to me because I love bananas, but only when they are on the greener side.  If they have one brown spot I am hesitant to even try them.  So of course, I had to add the banana sentiment!!

The inside sentiment is just as good.  Here is the view on the inside.

LOL!!!  To me this is the other side of the coin.  Too young for brown spots but old enough not to need the cone of shame.  A perfect match for someone in that mid-range age wise.  Like I said, this stamp set is awesome with the sentiments for those of us not quite on the formal thought wave.

Colors

Since this was intended as a humorous and fun card, I wanted brighter colors.  I decided on the Soft Suede as the base card to show off the brown spots on the bananas.  And yes I know that is not a bright color.  However it pairs wonderfully with the Granny Apple Green.  This bright green is a favorite of mine.  I used it quite often when it debuted and have tried to let it rest a bit in the last few months.

The lady’s dress is done with the Granny Apple Green Light Stampin’ Blends.  The ribbon is a retired one that is Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green.  Sadly, I thought it was the one which carried over that is Old Olive and Pretty Peacock.  That’s what I get for thinking.  But, It works wonderfully with my colors so I am fine with that.  I also added a few of the Blue Adhesive Gems to give the card a bit of dazzle.

Reminder:

The Last Chance Sale, shown below, is quickly approaching the end.  Some of the items may be already sold out.  If there is something on your wish list, please don’t hesitate to get them now.

Count On Me

I cannot believe that Father’s Day is Sunday!  Yesterday it was a month away.  Or at least it seems that way.  Since I do not generally post on the weekends, I made a quick Father’s Day, or just for any occasion, card.  I used the new Count On Me stamp set.  It is adorable and it called to me for this card.

Quick and Easy is Great

I went with a more plain card to showcase only the adorable Black Bear.  I am from East Tennessee originally and I love my Smoky Mountain Black Bears!  Of course he could be any color of bear to match your favorite.

The layout and colors were all about the bear.  I went with Crumb Cake card base for a more natural look.  It is paired with Basic Black, for the bear, and Real Red, for the heart.  There was much debate on adding some tone on tone stamping on the red layer I do have to say.  In the end I felt like clean was the way to go.

Stamps

The bear and grass are from the Count On Me stamp set.  The bear is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with the Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend.  After it dried for a minute, I went back and added some shading using the same color.  It added just a touch of darker color.  The bits of grass are also from the same set and are stamped using Mossy Meadow Ink.

The sweet sentiment is from the Hats Off stamp set.  I love the font and the wording.  This would work for any occasion really.  Looking at my card, it would work for any occasion as well.

It is shocking to me, but this is two cards in a row with minimal products used!  Wow!!  I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend and are able to share some happiness!

Floral Art

Today’s card is a quick and easy card using the Fine Art Floral Designer Series paper as the star.  Last I checked it is still available in the Last Chance Sale.  The sheets in this pack are wonderful and work for any type of paper crafting.  I also added in the Art Gallery stamp set, which carried over to the new Annual Catalog.

The Paper

If you follow me at all, you know how much I love Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper.  I tell you often enough, right!!  Something I especially like is that both sides of the papers are gorgeous.  And today I used both sides of the same sheet.

Another thing I love to do is to Stamp On The DSP.  I am not the only one who does it, but it is not seen very often.  That is what I did today.  On the sentiment layer I stamped the flower but then also stamped the small flower image.  It is actually a layer for the flower.  I stamped off on it before stamping on the DSP.  The sentiment is from the Art Gallery stamp set also.  The boldness of it seemed to work with the business of everything else.

Layout

The layout is a regular one.  I just added the angle for the smaller sentiment piece.  I did something that I do not normally do.  I layered the two DSP pieces together after stamping the flowers.  Then I lined up the bottom edge of the larger piece with the ruler along the bottom of my Stampin’ Up! Grid Paper.  ( I used all the lines and ruler for everthing!!!)  That way I could feel fairly certain to get the sentiment stamped straight even though the layer it is on is at an angle.

As is usual for me, I chose the colors of paper and ink from the DSP.  I went with Mossy Meadow for the card base, which is not a common one for me.  And Did Not put a layer between the base and the DSP.  That is very unusual for me.  I love my layers.  The inks I used are Mossy Meadow and Poppy Parade, with the sentiment in Night of Navy.  I have shocked myself with how few products I used for this card!!

Measurements

  • The base card is cut to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • The large DSP is cut to 3 7/8 X 5 1/8
  • The angled and smaller DSP is cut 2 1/2 X 3 3/4

Celebration Stars for InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are having fun with our stamping favorites – our favorite themes for seasonal cards and projects. This month’s projects feature stars. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I realized in thinking of my card and which direction to go that it definitely depends on the time of the year.  For example if this were Winter my stars would have been Christmas related.  So of course with this being Summer, I had to go with a Patriotic / July 4th type Star card.

Stampin' Up!, Stitched Stars, Oval Occasions, Neutrals designer paper, Jackie Beers

I failed to mention that this is also a Fun Fold card.  Here are open and then open again views.

The Star

To start this Star, I chose the Stitched Stars dies.  I used the 3rd largest star and die cut it using Thick White cardstock.  While I was cutting, I went ahead and did a few of the smaller stars as well.  I chose Night of Navy and Merry Merlot from the Neutrals 6X6 DSP pack.  Merry Merlot isn’t a normal Red I would choose, but I love the look now.

I cut the two colors of DSP into 1/4″ strips, leaving the length at 6″.  Before beginning my gluing process I grabbed my Silicone Mat.   This is a must have for glueing small items without making a mess (like I usually do!!) To layer, I wanted to be in the correct order of Red/White/Blue, but I didn’t think it needed to begin with Red.  I glued the first blue piece a little bit down from the top and then added a red piece.  For the White areas I layed a scrap piece of cardstock that was also cut 1/4″ and then bumped the blue up against it before removing it.  This really was a fairly easy technique.

The Fun Fold

The base of the card is a regular cut of 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4.  I then cut off 1 1/4 from the front piece.  The White layer on the front is cut 2 3/4 X 5 1/4 and stamped with stars from the Oval Occasions stamp set.  I placed a regular inside layer of White also.  The Merry Merlot layer is cut 4 X 7 and scored at 3 1/2.  It is then centered on the inside of the card and folds over the front.  The inside layer of the Merry Merlot is White cut to 3 1/4 X 3 3/4.  The Night of Navy cardstock layer on the front beneath the Stars is also 3 1/4 X 3 3/4.

The stamped stars and the sentiment are from the Oval Occasions stamp set.  The Double Oval Punch that is Bundled with this set is carrying over, but the stamp set is not.  I hope you will give this set a second look as it is very versatile.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Candy Ford at Stamp Candy.   There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!
