Penguin Fun

I have two versions of a Penguin Place card to share today.  One is pretty simple and the other is using the same products with just a little addition.

Stamps

The Penguin Place Bundle is a wonderful Bundle!  One of the things I love is that it is a Punch Bundle.  I really prefer punches when doing multiples of a card.  And this punch and stamp set allow you to punch just a piece of Black cardstock and a piece of White cardstock that you layer together.  OR … you stamp the Penguin and punch it out as I did.

And is that sentiment not the cutest???  The matching sentiment is on the inside and says “It’s Like A Little Except A Lot”  I think that is adorable.

Here is the 2nd version that has a bit added to it.

Technically, the only addition is the balloon and string.  But the change of layout really amps it up a bit.  The balloon is from the stamp set and is fussy cut.  The sentiment is the same, I used the paper snips to cut the flag end.

Paper

The prettiest paper on this card in my opinion is the 2021-2023 In Color Vellum.  And yes, I used it last week as well.  This piece seems to show up better than the darker piece did.  The die cut circle is from the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper.  It is a Sale-A-Bration item.  There are a couple of Sale-A-Bration papers that partner with Mini Catalog sets.  I love this approach.  Purchase the Bundle, with maybe a little bit extra products to reach the $50.00 and get the paper Free.

Amazing Sheep

I love the various fun animal stamps that Stampin’ Up! artists come up with.  They are always spot on in terms of their cuteness.  When I saw the Counting Sheep in the Sale-A-Bration catalog I was drawn to one particularly.  This one is the star of my card today.

Stampin' Up!, Counting Sheep, You're A Peach, In Color Vellum, Jackie Beers

I wanted to play along with a Color Challenge from Global Design Project.  The colors are the ones I have used here today.  They helped me to create the little barn yard scene.  Here is the banner.

Paper

The paper that I picked for the color challenge are from the You’re A Peach Designer Series Paper.  The sky and grass are the reverse side of some of the peach papers.  As soon as I had my scene in my head, I knew which papers I needed and I think they are great.  The card base is Pale Papaya, as is the sheeps lips and eyeliner!

The fence is made using Crumb Cake cardstock and cut with the matching Sheep Dies.  I cut two pieces and they fit the size of my layer perfectly.

Stamps

This is the sheep that got my attention.  I could just see her, with her eyeliner and lip gloss, being the center of attention.  To further carrying that theme I placed her on top of the fence like she is performing, or maybe just needed to be seen!

The banner hanging on the fence is another stamp from the set.  You Are Amazing is always a good stamp to have on hand.  For this application, I stamped it and then rough cut some tears in the banner.  I figure someone tried to eat it!

Finishing Touches

The final touch for this card was adding the Sun.  It is also in the Sheep Dies and I love the stitching around the center.  Since I have used it several times this week, you know I am loving the In Color Shimmer Vellum from the Annual Catalog.  I used the Pale Papaya Vellum for the sun.  It is finished off with a 2021-2023 In Color Jewel in Pale Papaya as well.

Count On Me

I cannot believe that Father’s Day is Sunday!  Yesterday it was a month away.  Or at least it seems that way.  Since I do not generally post on the weekends, I made a quick Father’s Day, or just for any occasion, card.  I used the new Count On Me stamp set.  It is adorable and it called to me for this card.

Quick and Easy is Great

I went with a more plain card to showcase only the adorable Black Bear.  I am from East Tennessee originally and I love my Smoky Mountain Black Bears!  Of course he could be any color of bear to match your favorite.

The layout and colors were all about the bear.  I went with Crumb Cake card base for a more natural look.  It is paired with Basic Black, for the bear, and Real Red, for the heart.  There was much debate on adding some tone on tone stamping on the red layer I do have to say.  In the end I felt like clean was the way to go.

Stamps

The bear and grass are from the Count On Me stamp set.  The bear is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with the Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend.  After it dried for a minute, I went back and added some shading using the same color.  It added just a touch of darker color.  The bits of grass are also from the same set and are stamped using Mossy Meadow Ink.

The sweet sentiment is from the Hats Off stamp set.  I love the font and the wording.  This would work for any occasion really.  Looking at my card, it would work for any occasion as well.

It is shocking to me, but this is two cards in a row with minimal products used!  Wow!!  I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend and are able to share some happiness!

Birthday Snail Mail

One of the Mini Catalog Suites of products that I will truly miss is the Snail Mail.  There is just something about those adorable little snails that make me smile.  Today I have a Snail Mail Birthday card to share.

It’s All About the DSP

You know how much I love the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper.  It is generally the base all my cards are built on.  Today it is even the focal point of the card.  I not only used the strip of a sheet from the pack on the left side, but the snail is die cut from the DSP as well.

One of the great things Stampin’ Up! does is that they make the DSP so that you can use the matching dies to cut out a pre-colored image.  What a way to save time!  I used this little trick for the Snail.  There is no way I could make the colors so perfect!  The little heart attached to the shell is from the dies at well.  That little bit of extra adds quite a bit of Cute to the card.

Layers

After die cutting the snail and adding the heart, I couldn’t decide how to add it to the card.  I wanted a little different layer.  Going through my dies, I ran across the Painted Labels Dies.  They are another set that offer such a variety for layering!  I chose to make the layer in White to blend the white around the die cut snail.

I went one step further with the layer and did something I usually forget to do.  Quite a lot of the dies have an embellishment die in the mix.  I rarely use these simply because I do not think of it.  Today it sort of jumped out at me.  So I cut the little lace look in Real Red to match the heart from the Snail’s shell.  I love the added little bit of color and fancy it gives to a fun card.

Finishing Touches

The sentiment is from the Oval Occasions stamp set.  It fit perfectly on the little envelope die from the Snail Mail Bundle.  Everything is glued directly down with the exception of the snail.  It is adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And of course, there is a little bling in the form of a Rhinestone next to the sentiment.

Generally for birthday cards I will stamp an image from the set I use on the envelope for mailing.  Just to let the person know there is something fun inside.  For today’s card I stamped the Happy Mail stamp and used the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch to cut it.  So that it stands out just a little bit, I went around the edges of the postage edge with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.  That way it doesn’t blend in totally with the White envelope.

Slim Puffin Party

Today’s card is a Slim Line card starring the Party Puffins.  I could not decide if the card needed MORE.  Do you ever have those thoughts?  For this time I decided to ignore that thought and go with it as is.

Also,  I have a couple of pictures to share with you from my beach vacation.  The weather was better than expected and a wonderful, relaxing, few days were enjoyed by all.

Stampin' Up!, Party Puffins, Tailor Made Tags, Jackie Beers

Make A Wish

I believe these little guys are just adorable!  Stampin’ Up! and their extremely talented artists do amazing animals with movement and adorable faces.  There is quite a lot of white space on this card.  Slim cards sort of lean that way for me, but I decided not to compete with the cute guys and left them to shine alone.

I paired the adorable Party Puffins with the stand alone die set of Tailor Made Tags.  These are two different styles of tags that have multiple layers for each.  I used the same tag for each layer here.  This was mostly due to limited space as I did not want to crowd in on that right side Puffin too much.  The partial showing of the Balmy Blue tag underneath works pretty well.

The too cute little fish is part of the Party Puffin stamp set.  I colored him with Stampin’ Blends and then fussy cut him.  Even though he is small, it is pretty easy to cut out.  Plus layering him over white helps the edges of white left behind to blend into the background.  He really draws your eye to the tags.

Measurements:

  • Base of Mint Macarron is 7 1/2 X 8 1/2, scored at 3 3/4
  • Balmy Blue is cut to 3 1/2 X 8 1/4
  • White is cut to 3 1/4 X 8

Your Day

Today’s card is the last time I get to share the Kangaroo & Company Bundle with you.  Sadly it’s time is almost over.  I think these stamps are some of the cutest ever in regard to the animals.  And the versatility with the images that fit with it are simply adorable.

Stampin' Up!, kangaroo and company, jackie beers

My plan

This little Kangaroo is so cute.  My thought with the circles is that they match the DSP.  The Designer Series Paper is the Ice Cream Corner DSP.  It is the green ice cream for the stick on the opposite side.  The front of the card was intended to make you wonder what is on the inside.  I think the little envelope, which is part of the stamp and the die sets, lends to that thought.  And the little butterfly is perfect for the delivery!

Here is the inside of the card.

I gave the Mom some gifts to deliver in her little pouch.  I could not decide on the sentiment, so left that off until I needed it.  The gifts could work for either a birthday or a baby shower in my way of thinking.  The gifts are attached to the little piece from the die set which allows the item you are using to be pulled out of the pouch and then returned as well.

Original Idea

My first thought for this card was the same overall, but to be made a square card.  That was great right up until I was going to add the kangaroo on the inside.  Yes, you guessed correctly.  The Mom Kangaroo is too tall.  But here is a picture of that card as well.

The only difference on the front is the cardstock strips.  I felt with the extra space on the larger card, the circle needed to be grounded.  Other than the strips, the layout is the same.  So you get two ideas for the same project and supplies!  What a deal!!

Measurements

  • card base in Soft Sea Foam cut 5 1/2 X 8 1/2
  • Old Olive layer cut 5 1/4 X 4
  • DSP layer cut 5 X 3 3/4
  • White strip cut 4 1/2 X 1/2
  • Old Olive strip cut 4 1/4 X 1/2
  • A White and Old Olive Circles cut with the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you like the Kangaroo & Company as much as I do.  If so, grab this sweet bundle before they are sold out.
