Winds of Change for June InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around NEW. With the launch of Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog, NEW gives us the opportunity to showcase new products and play with new colors. There are also new occasions (babies, weddings, graduations) to celebrate, so you are going to see a variety of projects in this hop. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My card reflects two of the NEW theme ideas.  I am showcasing a NEW stamp set, Winds of Change.  I looked at this set when I received my catalog and it was a must have.  As you know, I love to color with the Stampin’ Blends, and this set is perfect for coloring.  I also LOVE to travel.  Next month I am going on another Viking River Boat Cruise.  And we begin in Amsterdam!  I have never been to Amsterdam before, so this is my second NEW for the theme.  I am so excited about the trip, and am equally excited to share my card idea with you.

Even the sentiment on the card goes along with the theme!  I googled Amsterdam and looked at all of the windmills for some color inspiration.  They are typically brownish, but the blades can be different colors. I added just a touch of the Granny Apple Green to my blades to match the bottom section of the windmill building.

All of the pictures I saw were in vibrant colors, so that is what I went with.  I always prefer a mix of colors in flowers,  so I mixed my tulips and then added a whimsical touch with the butterfly.  The butterfly is from the Hold On To Hope stamp set and the Cross of Hope Framelits.  I colored it with Granny Apple and Daffodil Delight markers then die cut it.

The sentiment is done with my favorite new technique.  I used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and cut to fit the size I needed.  (As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, there are several videos out there on how to do this little trick).

Friendship

Sometimes my visions of what a card will look like and the outcome do not exactly match.  This is one of those cards.  However, I am ok with the result enough to share it with you.

My original idea was a fence with a sign on the gate.  I ended up with a gate.  So I am going to say that it has swung open and that is why no fence is next to it.  🙂

I started with the Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper.  This is one of the reverse sides , as I call them. The gate is embossed with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder after being stamped with the Crackle Paint background stamp first.  I used the Classic Label Punch to make the hinges.   I cut it into two pieces and added Metallic Pearls.  The door knob is the punched out hole of the Delightful Tag Topper Punch.

For the sign I used the Rectangle Stitched Frames.  I shortened the frame that was wide enough for my sign by cutting it out.  I then went back and attached the die back to the cut out piece at the length I needed.  There are several videos out on how to do this.  It is quite easy once you wrap your head around it.

The butterflies were just happy add ons from the same stamp set.  I used the Old Olive, Coastal Cabana, and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Markers to color the butterflies.   I forgot to say this is the Beauty Abounds stamp set and the Butterfly Beauty Dies.

Thank you so much for visiting today.  Tomorrow is the InKing Royalty Blog Hop!!  I hope you will return to see all of the great projects.

Thank You Big Time

I am in love with the new Scalloped Notecards and Envelopes.  I shared one with you a bit earlier.  You can see that one HERE.  But today I have really had some fun with them.  I paired it with a stamp set I was so happy carried over to the new catalog.  It is the Animal Outing set.  The animals are so cute and perfect for so many fun cards.

Stampin' Up!, Animal Outing, Scalloped Notecards, Jackie Beers

I think this turned out really cute.  I actually left more room between the giraffe and the tree frog than I had intended.  So I was wondering how I was going to make it work.  I thought of a “thought bubble” like you see in cartoons.  In looking at the punches I have, I spotted the Balloon Bouquet Punch and new it could easily become my talking bubble.  I am happy with how it turned out.  A lesson about being able to make a cute card when you think you have messed up!!

I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them with Stampin’ Blends.  I added the Glitter Enamel Dots in various shades of green and one Crushed Curry on the talking bubble.  I used the Detailed Trio Punch to round the corners of the Whisper White layer for a bit different look.

It seemed that the white of the inside of the envelope, which shows at the bottom below the scallop, didn’t look finished.  I went searching for a DSP scrap that had the card colors and found the Mosaic Mood DSP has Crushed Curry.  I added a 1/2″ strip to the inside bottom of the card and along the bottom of the front of the envelope.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I will have another new project to share tomorrow morning.  All of the supplies are listed at the bottom of the page.

Tufted Floral

I am showcasing a variety of products for today’s project.  And it is in a Gorgeous color that I have not used near enough!  Can you guess the color?

If you guessed Gorgeous Grape and/or  Highland Heather for the color, then you are correct!  I have not used these colors in a bit and was surprised how pretty they are all over again.  Paired with Highland Heather and the Tufted Embossing Folder the colors really shine.

It took a bit of figuring out to get the white layer the way I envisioned it.  I stamped the flower and the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I then cut up to the flower in each direction with the Stampin’ Trimmer.  Next I used the Paper Snips to fussy cut the top half of the flower.   Surprisingly to me, it turned out as I pictured.

I colored the flower and leaves with Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends and Mossy Meadow Light Stampin’ Blend.  For a bit of added texture, I added some of the Silver thread behind the flower layer.

Thank you for stopping by today!!  I very much appreciate it.

Free As A Bird Pals June Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ June  Blog Hop. We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects using “Anything with Wings”. You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I am sharing birds for my “anything with wings” challenge.  This is actually my second card.  I switched from butterflies to birds.

Stampin' Up!, Free As A Bird, Stitched Nested Labels, Subtle Embossing, Bird Ballad, Jackie Beers

This is the negative of the Stitched Nested Labels that I shared on Monday’s card.  I love getting two cards from one piece.  I embossed the So Saffron with the Subtle Embossing Folder prior to cutting with the Stitched Nested Labels.  (They are bundled with the Free As A Bird stamp set!)  The gorgeous DSP is the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

The birds are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with a variety of Stampin’ Blends.  I decided to fussy cut the birds to give more dimension to the card.  The trick is to turn the paper and not your scissors!  I also stamped and cut out the small flower from the stamp set to anchor the banner at the top.
