Double Strip Fun Fold

I am not sure my title describes the Fun Fold on today’s card.  It is a Double Flap card starring the Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper. And is paired with tulips from Flowering Rainboots set.  I made it for a card class this past weekend to show this gorgeous DSP.

Stampin' Up!, Flowering Fields, Flowering Rainboots, Art Gallery, Pearls, Jackie Beers

The card is a Gate Fold with two flaps which are attached on opposite sides.  Here is an opening view.

** As I took the photo I realized I had not adhered the inside layer to the card! Duh!!

Paper

Even though there is a stamped focal layer, I believe the DSP is the star of this card.  These wonderful tulips are from the Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper.  Surprisingly I love the mix of Highland Heather and Rich Razzleberry.  Those are not two colors that I would think of together, but they are great.  By adding the Evening Evergreen as the side pieces that really works to pull the green from the paper.  It is a Jewel Tone card base with a pastel center.

Stamps

For the focal layer I went with the pot of tulips.  This stamp, which is actually three different stamps, comes from the Flowering Rainboots stamp set.  Since it is a photopolymer set, lining up the three stamps is so easy to do.  And to add the sentiment, I pulled from the Art Gallery stamp set.  A simple Happy Birthday seemed to fit.  I was trying not to cover the stamped image so simply stamped it across the front of the flower pot.  By using the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink it is a clean look without adding any bulk to the front.

Finishes

Rounding the tops of the focal layer gives a bit of a break from all of the sharp angles on the front of the card.  With so many layers it looked a bit full.  The Detailed Trio Punch is retiring and will be missed!!!  And for the finishing touch, I added a trio of Basic Pearls just tot he right of the stamped tulips.  They show up much better in person.

April InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s April Blog Hop! As the weather gets warmer, it’s time to start planning our trips to the beach, the lake or the in-town aquarium. Today we’re sharing projects inspired by the ocean and sea – we are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

It took me a little while to come up with an idea for this theme.  Finally the Let’s Set Sail Bundle was my inspiration.  And this card took me very much outside of my normal cards.  Hopefully that is a good thing!

Stampin' Up!, Let's Set Sail, Waves of the Ocean, Emboss, Jackie Beers

Stamps and Punch

All of the stamps used are from the sweet set Let’s Set Sail.  Actually it is a Punch Bundle.  These are my favorites as I love punches.  They are especially great for doing multiples of a card.  Using the Basic Gray for the sail boat was a bit out of my normal range.  But with the sun, based on the boat’s shadow, it would appear that way from a distance.  I will say that it took me a few minutes to figure out which way the sails go. LOL!!  Did I say I am not a sailor?

For the sentiment I also went away from my normal.  It is really far out there.  I love embossed sentiment, but rarely do them.   After seeing the sample card in the catalog with it embossed, I knew I had to do that.  And to go even further, I hand snipped all of the sentiment apart.  This is all one stamp and I turned it into four pieces.  That is so not me!!  But I am thrilled with the different look.

Paper

Sadly I believe the Waves Of The Ocean Designer Series Paper is sold out.  If you are interested please check though.  For this card it was an easy choice to make.  And it led to the other colors.  I mixed Coastal Cabana with Bermuda Bay cardstock and added a bit of Bermuda Bay Ink in the shadow.  Surprisingly the Basic Gray works well with these beachy colors.

Measurements

Coastal Cabana is the card base at 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 folded at 4 1/4, with a thin Basic Gray layer cut to 5 1/4 X 4.  Then the gorgeous DSP is cut 5 1/8 X 3 7/8.  For the focal layers, the Bermuda Bay is cut 2 1/2 X 1 1/8 and the Basic White is cut 2 3/8 X 3.  And the sentiment pieces were stamped on a scrap of Bermuda Bay and then paper snipped apart.  I didn’t even try to keep the lines straight.  Oh My!!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Lisa Graham at Lisa’s Little Ink Spot.  There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

Bright Rainbow

Today’s card was inspired by me attempting to clean off my desk.  Isn’t that a scary thought?  I found leftover pieces of projects and instead of tossing them, I decided to make a card.  Except it is using the same layout as yesterday’s card.  Because that card was still on the desk as well.  There is a lesson in there somewhere, but that is for another day.  Here is card number 2 of a simple layout.

Stampin' Up!, Rainbow of Happiness, Rainbow Dies, Hippo & Friends, Resin Stars, Hey Sports Fan, Parakeet Party, Jackie Beers

Aside from the same layout as yesterday, this card is almost completely made up of retiring products.  If you missed yesterday’s card, you can see it HERE

Paper

The only item on the card that is Not retiring is this sneak peek of one of the 2022-2024 In Colors.  It is the card base and is called Parakeet Party.  Compared to Granny Apple Green it is a bit lighter and brighter.  The die cut little tag with the washi tape was from a challenge a week ago.  As I said in that post, you could do the same technique with scraps of DSP and/or cardstock.  And to match those colors, I chose this star sheet from the Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper that is also retiring.  It matched the yellow in the tag perfectly.

Stamps and Dies

The tag and sentiment are from the Rainbow of Happiness Bundle.  I was slow to appreciate this bundle and now am sad to see it leave.  There are some sweet sentiments and great dies.  My favorite is the sweet sentiment I used here.   And the die cut layer beneath the tag is a really wonderful one from the Hippo & Friends Dies.  These are truly awesome dies with three different layering sets of various, and very different, shapes.  I will truly miss these dies.

Finishes

Yesterday’s card was pretty and simple.  This one does have die cuts and raised layers as well as the couple of different shapes.  It could not stay as “simple” as the other one.  And to complete this card I went with a match to the DSP.  The Resin Stars from the Hey Sports Fans Suite are adorable and perfect for the star paper.  I personally either use three embellishments or just one.  This one got the full treatment of three.  The little sentiment needed one of the smaller ones!

Don’t forget to check out the Last Chance list if you like any of these items.  You can click on the Shop button in the Menu Bar and go straight to my online store.  I really appreciate y’all !

Sweet Symmetry

The name I used for this card is Sweet Symmetry, and the card fits both of those words perfectly.  In Symmetry stamp set paired with Sweet Symmetry DSP is just lovely.

Stampin' Up!, In Symmetry, Sweet Symmetry, Lovely You, Calypso Coral, Jackie Beers

Quick and Simple Layers

With the gorgeous Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper it was so quick and simply to make a pretty card.  The detail in this DSP has the paper appearing almost 3D.  By using the Calypso Coral cardstock as the base card helped to pull the darker shade a bit more.  And the layer of Basic White cardstock gives the illusion of the softest shades being almost white.  The advantage of having all of the detail in the paper gives a chance for a more simple focal layer.

Stamps

Partnering the stamp set with the paper was a piece of cake for this card.  The In Symmetry stamp set matches perfectly.  And stamping the flower with Calypso Coral Ink was a given.  Of course the stem and leaves had to be a green, but that only added to the brightness of the card.  For a touch of sweetness I added the “smile” ,from the Lovely You stamp set, going across the center of the stem.  It is a bit different and very noticeable.  And the final touch was a single Rhinestone at the base of the flower where the stem meets.

Measurements

Quick and easy measurements make the quick card even better.  The base card is 4 1/4 X 11, scored at 5 1/2.  For the White layer, it is 4 X 5 1/4 and the DSP is 3 7/8 X 5 1/8.  I did not feel the flower layer needed a background layer.  And that is very different for me.  That layer is 2 1/2 X 2 3/4.

Warm Beachy Day

I have been advertising the Waves Of The Ocean Suite early release.  You can see all of the components towards the bottom of the post.  So today I have a fun card made with the Waves Of Inspiration Bundle.  Plus some added products from the suite.

Stampin' Up!, Waves of Inspiration, Blue Foils, Rhinestone Waves Jewels, Postage Stamp Punch, Label Me Fancy Punch, Jackie Beers

I actually mixed quite a lot of different products to make this card.  Please do not panic!!  Most are ones that you would already have, or can substitute for.

Stamps

The beautiful waves are both stamped and die cut from the Waves of Inspiration Bundle.  I love how the two together give such depth to the water.  Also the little birds flying overhead are from the stamp set.  This card probably has as many layers as any of my more advanced cards.  And this one is really not.  The various dimensions simply give that illusion.

For the sentiment, I wanted a sweet one and found it in the Paradise Palms stamp set.  This is a great one for anyone who loves the beach.  Sadly my beachy vacation is not for another few months.  Making more of these cards may help me get over it.

Dies and Punches

As I mentioned above, the awesome Waves Dies are part of the Waves of Inspiration Bundle.  There are actually two different waves.  I chose to do them in two different colors for a more realistic ocean look.  Since the ocean has such variation of the blue / green tones in it.  The dies were used on the Blue Foils Specialty Paper that is a part of the Early Release of the Suite.  They are gorgeous.

Trying to figure out the sentiment location and layers was the most difficult part of this card creation.  I finally settled with the Label Me Fancy Punch for the sentiment itself.  The shape reminds me of a metal tag or even dog tags. I wanted to add more of the Bermuda Bay color without overwhelming the other parts of the card.  The punch I decided on is the Postage Stamp Punch.  The edging and the size were perfect.

Other Touches

To finish the sentiment layer I added one of t he Rhinestone Waves Jewels.  These vary from dark blue to an almost peridot green.  I went with the lightest blue / green color.  For a bit more of a “scene” look, I decided to add a sun behind the birds.  This was done by using Inks and Blending Brushes.  The upper corner started with Crushed Curry Ink.  Then a bit of that area and below received Mango Melody.  And the final area was just a touch of Pumpkin PIe.  In person it shows more of the variation of colors than in the photo.
