It has taken me a while to breakout the In The Country stamp set. They can be very detailed or lightly colored and still be beautiful. I chose to share the old steps and flowers with you today.
Stamps
The single stamp used here is all it takes for a beautiful card. This image reminds me of a photo I took in Europe that I use as my phone screensaver. I wanted the flowers to pop as they are in my photo. The charm of old and fresh really appeal to me and I hope they do to you as well.
This building could be colored using a terracotta look or the gray stone as I have done. Coloring the flowers and greenery was really easy since they are pretty tiny. All I did was use the harder pen end of the Stampin’ Blends and dabbed the colors. One of my favorite things to photograph when traveling in Europe are the doors. I love the old ones but especially the brightly painted ones. So of course my door here had to really pop as well.
Dies
The Layering Diorama Dies seem to fit the old looking image well. It is like a torn page from a book. Personally, I love the odd shapes in this Die set. This shape mimics the shape of the steps, just with an added twist so to speak. And that bit of a twist allows the die cut image to very easily, and prettily, stand alone on the front of the card. That is another win in my book!
Paper and Ribbon
This rustic looking paper was a great find in looking for the appropriate paper for my image. It is a “back” side of one of the Delicate Desert Designer Series Paper pieces. I think it looks like a painted plaster or even a faded linen. Whatever it is supposed to be, I love the look of it. The gray is one I do not use as often as others. It is the Gray Granite card stock. But it is the perfect fit for this card.
To complete my card and to highlight the bright door, I opted for another touch of the Polished Pink. This is in the form of the Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon. I love this ribbon in all of it’s color options. It is really easy to work with. In going with my more simple and clean layout, I opted to not use a bow. The easy to do knot was the perfect chose I believe. And I know you will be shocked, but there is NO bling on this card! I can’t believe I refrained from bling!
