Welcome to My First Blog Post!

Hello everyone! I am so happy, and terrified, to have a blog up and running. This has been in the thinking, planning, and now activation process for over a year. And yes I apparently worry and analyze too much! But here it is finally. Thanks to Integrant Services for the building of my blog and to Brian King, my amazing upline, for helping me learn how to use it. And here we go……….

My first post is about Beautiful You. When I opened the 2017 Occasions Catalog this was the first set that truly caught my eye. I thought it was simple (which I love), and could be used with a variety of techniques to give it different looks. So she was in my first order!

This stamp set is perfect for playing with the Watercolor Pencils. But you can also stamp the zigzags that are included in the set for coloring her dress or do paper piecing. I colored her with the watercolor pencils and used the blender pen to smooth it out. This is such an easy technique to do! I went a different direction with the umbrella and stamped it onto Pop Of Pink Designer Series Paper, cut it out, and glued it on top of the umbrella. How simple to add a different look. And the bold lines of the stamp are very user friendly for cutting. The Layering Ovals are such an easy way to pop out your focal point, and there are so many different sizes that it fits almost any design. They are just a “must have”.

The base of the card is Melon Mambo cut to 8 1/2 X 5 1/2. I followed that with a layer of Basic Black cut to 5 1/4 X 4. I felt like the thick black lines of the image along with the black in the designer series paper needed to be anchored. The Whisper White base layer is 5 X 3 3/4 and the designer paper is 5 X 3/4. I also colored in a few additional hearts with the Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker.

This card layout is very versatile and I use it often for larger stamped images.
